old fighter / wanted criminal / grief addict

KHUNBISH GENEQ

"Word t'th'wise, ruffmans," the old man said, without looking up. "Take yer troubles' wit'ya when ye don't heed my advice. Don't strike while th'irons set a glimmer, strike it till it sets a glimmer. Then, and only then, will ye get outta here alive."

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

CHILDHOOD
Khunbish was born to relatively normal parents to a normal tribe on the Azim Steppe. His mother was a Kha, bringing stories of life outside of the Steppe before marrying into the Geneq tribe. His father was absolutely brutal to Khunbish, demanding higher and higher standards. Winning the archery contest at the Naadam, Champion of his own Mettle, and mastered the bond between him and his Yol. All this and more, and it wasn't enough. This led Khunbish to seek life outside of the Steppes. Sure enough, shady looking indivudals lazed about in Reunion, seeking strong men.

THE COBRAS
A ragtag team indeed. This was a very small criminal organization at the time, all looking for young men strong enough to compensate from their lack of real world experience. Sure enough, after not too much time thinking, Khunbish went off. To this day, Khunbish believes that these were and still are the best years of his life. The men and women he met there gave his life meaning and purpose. Khunbish wound himself into being not only just a bodyguard, but a well practiced criminal. An art thief, lockpick, and muscle by trade, Khunbish was to smuggle millions of forged koban and gil into the streets as his worse crime. He smuggled his way into the hearts of both men and women for his own gain; information and safe keeping. And, most importantly, he met three people that would change the course of his wicked soul forever, including a blue haired Miqo'te man and another Xaela woman. But the golden age would not last long.

THE FALL
The Cobras at the height of their hayday were residing locally in Kugane's slums, an underground sanctuary filled with hasily applied materials. Unfortunately, the circumstance of how they were found will be lost to time. However, Kugane officials completely inflitrated and caught many members by surprise. Khunbish and his company were indeed captured and sentenced to death.
But fate, a fickle seamstress, had spun another tale. Khunbish's prison wall had been damaged by a stray cannon ball off a pirate ship's attempt to take Kugane's port. Funnily enough, his Yol, Nil Yagaan, had been nearby. Upon calling her, Khunbish rushed into the night and escaped along with only a few others.The bounty on his head was costly. Six million koban tied to the neck of him and his friends. He fled back home to only where he knew to be.

RETURN TO THE STEPPES
Back home did Nil Yagaan fly. Carrying her rider, her joyous mood despite the beaten and scared Geneqi on her back. Landing in a field, Khunbish refused to return to his tribe. How could he? After everything he's faced, he has failed to save his beloved friends who he shared so many great memories with. He refused to even fly back to see their deaths. Why should he be the one to live?
Fortunately, so did someone else.Khunbish was not fond of the ways of love. To lie, trick, and seduce were skills he all carried with him in his days. But a woman by the name of Bolormaa, an Uyagir-Moks, had kept a watchful eye over his back. She, too, made it out alive. And with her, he did find his renewed hope.He, too, would lose it again.Bolormaa had shared 10 beautiful moons with Khunbish, all fire and fury and honest love for one another until their was raided by a Xaela tribe. Small in number, Khunbish awoke one morning to find Bolormaa hacked to bits and lifeless, covered in crimson. He chased after the offending warriors, and gave each a slow and brutal death.His anguish and grief could only be salved by the bottle. He would abandon all companionship, all love, all of life. Joy was to be measured in milliliters, not memories. He held himself into his Ger, only hunting for his beloved Yol. Until he met up with a surviving member of his past.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

THE GRILLMASTER
Despite his years, seeming eons of grief and loss, Khunbish gained the help of I'chatro, a Miqo'te who man currently is in Khunbish's employ as a retainer. Making a significant amont of money for the Geneqi man, Khunbish has spent his silver years deep into meditation, expensive alcohol, and care for his beloved Yol. The money he makes goes back into a small event, gathering any and all who come to Reunion to seek shelter from the storm. Though the old man has a rough exterior and tolerates absolutely no pettiness, he has been known to be a thorough teacher and a kind word to those who may yet still be saved. And in saving them, he may yet be redeemed.

"Yeah, I know Nunya. Nunya-fuckin' business."

I'CHATRO TIA: How this blue haired Mi'qote became attached at the Geneqi man's hip is a history that either individual aren't too keen to share. I'chatro is, to no one's knowledge, under his retainer after an unfortunate incident. I'chatro currently works under an unknown businessman with enough gil to throw around that most would gawk at. I'chatro plays the markets, understanding which shipments go in and out under a myraid of fake names with indivdual puppet masters. Somehow, I'chatro leaves the stock market at a usual profit. He's well meaning, very behaved and overly polite, contrasting his master's gruff behavior. I'chatro is currently an NPC, but is available to RP with over google docs or discord upon request.

"STUTTER IT!"

Discord only given out upon asking, but you can find me easily on discord.gg/xaela.
I cannot stress this enough. OOC =/= IC. If anything is encroached, there will be transparent conversations on my end to address it. I am not shy about conflict in order to protect my own peace. Thanks!
Shouldn't have to be said, but there are mature themes surrounding Khunbish. If you are uncomfortable with such themes, please refrain from interacting for your own sake!
21+ they/he/it for myself, please. Activity is low as I both go to school and work full time. I have been roleplaying characters for 13+ years, but Khunbish has been around for 7 summers or so. Do not hesitate to ask for a discord rp if I cannot meet up at a specified time. I'm always down to blab about blorbos.

TH'HOOKS, SPONGEBOB
TH'HOOKS!

XAELA FROM THE GENEQ TRIBE: Khunbish has a deep understanding of common tribes that can be found on the Xaela, and was present on the Steppes 40 years from the present day. Though he roams on the Steppes now, his knowledge may be aged. His Yol, Nil Yagaan, and himself are linked through their own language of whistles and clicks built up on years of trust and communication. If you are having issues with your Yol, he may be just the guy to ask. Don't be upset if you're the one who's at fault.MORE THAN MEETS THE EYES: Khunbish's subtle movements of his hands may allude to a certain tribe on the Steppes. If you character can recognize these gestures, there may yield a surprising amount of history, as he is not involved with the tribe anymore. Why? Don't ask.SHIROGANE CRIMINAL: Anytime Khunbish is in Shirogane, he is wary and tense. Far more prone to substance abuse to deny his paranoia. Though he has been thoroughly tattooed everywhere and looks much different than his wanted poster, he is still uneasy with such a large price on his head. If your character is Higan, or worse- from Kugane proper, he is more untrustworthy of you than anyone else.SAILOR, DECKHAND, ALL AROUND DRUNK: Throughout Khunbish's criminal history, he has sailed on many a ship and been a deckhand on many a voyage. He gets along with sailors and pirates alike through their own stories. His accent is largely marked with both thieves' cant and the salted speech of sailors, no matter how vulgar. This has led him to drinking with some of the strongest livers in Eorzea. Don't try to outdrink him; you'll be picking up the tab.OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS: Cooking, lockpicking, sparring, and hunting are skills that this old dog keeps skilled and honed. He is a jack of all trades and a perfect mentor for keeping you alive, especially after everything he's been through.
